Hailing from the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, the Rob Roy is an 1894 cocktail that is very spirit forward with a flavorful finish due to the Angostura Bitters. The drink is named after an opera of the time period based on the Scottish folk hero Rob Roy McGregor. Although not an IBA Official Cocktail, the Rob Roy is a solid Scotch Whisky cocktail option that is meany for sipping and casual enjoyment.

Today we picked two awesome recipes to enjoy while watching the Academy Awards tonight; the Rooftop Lemonade and the Floradora. The first recipe is crisp and refreshing and if you’re watching Hollywood tonight from a warm and tropical place (jealous), then try out the Ravo Rooftop Lemonade! Today we’re continuing our Oscar’s Cocktail Series and we’re focusing on The Famous Grouse Smoky Black Scotch Whisky. This whisky is full of flavor and has a superior finish. Perfect standalone or in a spirit-forward cocktail, the Famous Grouse has certainly put together a solid Scotch for the masses. Scotch is always a challenge to mix due to its complex tasting notes and signature peat flavoring. We found two great cocktails to try out with this Smoky Black Scotch; the Godfather and the Rob Roy.
