The Four Horsemen

About The Four Horsemen

Revelation 6:1-8 “…I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse…And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him…”

The Four Horsemen is a purely painful experience that is said to be a rite of passage for those who turn 21. I don’t know why anyone would make a rookie drinker suffer like this, but at least it’s some damn good spirits involved. The process for this shooter is to take eat shot in sequence (order doesn’t matter) but once you start you have to finish. Without Jameson© this is called the Three Wise Men. With Jose Cuervo© substituting for Jameson© it becomes the Three Wisemen and a Mexican. (No, I didn’t make that up).

The Liquid Cocaine

About The Liquid Cocaine

So if you hated the Dead Nazi, you’ll really hate the Liquid Cocaine. This shot hurts like hell. It’ll get you going like the real thing, but it’s gonna hurt the whole time. Combining the meanest German spirits possible, the Liquid Cocaine is a shot for those who dare to push limits, but this is not a casual shot.

The Melon Ball

About The Melon Ball

As with most cocktails that involve melon liqueur, the Melon Ball Shot hails from the late 2000s and is as visually pleasing as it is to the tastebuds. A sickly sweet shot, we recommend ordering this one in moderation. An actual melon ball is sometimes used as garnish for this shot as well.

The Red Snapper

About The Red Snapper

The Red Snapper is a popular party shot that features Crown Royal© as the primary spirit. The Amaretto brings the sweet and the cranberry juice brings the bitter/sour. This is an easy shot to make en-mass and is often a crowd pleaser. Bartender beware, you know what happens when drunk people start shooting cranberry though (it tends to come back up).

The Screaming Orgasm

About The Screaming Orgasm

And we’re back with another PG named shot! This is honestly a shot for “people who don’t like shots.” The compliment of Amaretto, Irish Cream, and Coffee Liqueur essentially drowns out any thought of the Vodka being too much. Best served chilled.

The Jelly Bean

About The Jelly Bean

The Jelly Bean is a bit more complicated than most of our shots due to the layering of the spirits. This shot is a crowd-pleaser but is a pain when ordered as a round for those of us behind the bar. If you don’t like black licorice, stay away from this shot as the flavor profile almost overshadows the SoCo and Grenadine.

The Blowjob

About The Blowjob

Yup. So glad to have the word “blowjob” on www.EmpireMixology.com so that the two pop-up in Google©. Anyway, this is typically served as a “birthday” shot and is popular in younger clubs and college town bars. So you might be asking why is this drink called what it is. Well it’s because the shot has whipped cream on top and…..*looks out window, you can’t use your hands to drink it. Yup, mouth to glass and tip it back.

The Girl Scout Cookie (Shot)

About The Girl Scout Cookie

You know when a shot is called the Girl Scout Cookie it’s gonna be delicious and minty. This shot is no exception, and is often a crowd pleaser and fan favorite amongst the younger crowd. We recommend using the creme de cacao although peppermint schnapps is an acceptable substitute.

The Nutty Irishman

About The Nutty Irishman

There’s quite a few ways to make the Nutty Irishman, and even this version below can have Irish Whiskey added to it in order to have a “kick.” The two constants of this recipe no matter what the variation are Irish Cream and Hazelnut Liqueur. We chose to keep it simple but mess around and invent something way better!

The Quaalude

About The Quaalude

For the those born after the 1980s who have no idea what a Quaalude is, it was a sedative drug that was heavily abused in the 1960s through the 80s. A “downer" drug” it would cause your heart rate to drop, cause you to get lethargic, and give you a “high.” SO going back to the recipe here, the shot is relaxing and is meant to make you feel as if you were abnormally relaxed.

The B-52

About The B-52

Ooh Look! A shot that’s also an IBA Official Cocktail! Invented in Canada, the B-52 is named after the band, and not the B-52 Stratofortress Bomber (although the band is named after it, but hey whatever). This shot can be turned into a flaming shot by putting a thin layer of overproof rum on top of the shot and igniting. REMEMBER TO BLOW IT OUT BEFORE YOU SHOOT IT.

The Dirty Bong Water

About The Dirty Bong Water

Don’t blame the 2000s for having lame shot names; the 80s and 90s took most of the good ones. The Dirty Bong Water is actually a fairly tasty shot and is mild due to mostly using liqueurs. The name is off-putting but this shot will surprise you in a good way. Empire Mixology does not recommend taking a shot of actual dirty bong water and expecting the same flavor.

The PB&J

About The PB&J

Who doesn’t like PB&J Sandwiches? So obviously everyone likes the shot version just as well! Now technically we’re not using peanut butter, but hazelnut liqueur is close. This shooter is sweet and often very popular. I don’t think dessert shots exist, but this would definitely be in that category.

The Princess Shot

About The Princess Shot

The Princess Shot is the shot equivalent of a Pink Starburst Candy. This crowd pleasing shot is a relatively modern invention that has seen a popularity boom at bachelorette parties and weddings. The shot is a bit sour due to the mix and watermelon pucker, but it is packed with flavor accordingly. The shot could be made into a highball using lemon lime soda, but is best saved as a shot.

The Lemon Drop (Shot)

About The Lemon Drop

The simple and classic Lemon Drop Shot. Note, this is not the IBA Official Lemon Drop Cocktail which is made with Triple Sec and Sour Mix as well. This simple one ingredient shot is light and crisp in flavor. We recommend using Lemon Vodka as the primary ingredient, or a perfectly acceptable variation is to use standard vodka and a few drops of lemon juice. Traditionally a sugar coated lemon is sucked afterwards to kill the harsh bite of vodka!

The Fallen Froggie

About The Fallen Froggie

Meet the far eastern cousin of the Brain Hemorrhage shot, the Fallen Froggie. Also known as the Squished Frog, this visually……interesting shot is packed with flavor and isn’t too strong since the alcoholic ingredients are low proof. Arguably sweeter than the original recipe, and typically always more sweet than its other cousin the Alien Brain Hemorrhage, the Fallen Froggie is a an interesting way to start off a night or keep the party going. The flavor is a meld of sweet melon, pomegranate, peach, and Irish cream. Note the consistency is NOT smooth and the grenadine and cream combine to make the shot thick.

  • 1 part Peach Schnapps
