Cordials sometimes Schnapps; the Makings of a Great Cocktail.

Welcome to the wide world of liqueurs! A liqueur is any beverage flavored by fruits, herbs, spices, flowers, nuts or cream combined with a distilled spirit. So that leaves us with a big list of options and brands. Some of these spirits are labelled as cordials or schanpps as well. It is erroneously thought that any spirit that’s “half proof”(40 proof range) is a liqueur. This is false and if you think we’re wrong, go take a shot of Sambuca and tell us that it’s half proof. Liqueurs are usually served straight up or as an addition to a cocktail. Liqueurs such as Curacao and Triple Sec are absolutely essential in mixology to create historic and vibrantly flavored cocktails.

Fun Fact: Malibu Rum is technically a liqueur.
